For a country that has the largest democracy in the world, India is very conservative in its ideologies for women. Women have a very patriarchal role in its society. Growing up, I have witnessed this through my female role models: my mother and grandmother, who were held back from pursuing their dreams and aspirations. Instead encouraged to take up domestic duties and become housewives.
My “Angana” design are meant to put women on a pedestal by honoring their sacrifices and showcasing their worth.
