Yulu Xia

Yulu Xia, (born April 7, 1998, China), an interdisciplinary artist whose works are the combination of biology, science, and art. Growing up in Yunnan province which is known as the mushroom kingdom in China, she has been interested in the mycelium/mushroom world since she was a child. After the passing of her grandmother, Yulu has been thinking about what is the life after death and the relationship between death and the non-human (especially mycelium/ mushroom world). In her recent practice, she co-creates with mycelium and mushrooms, intending to create a multi-sensory system, providing audiences with the experience to see, listen, and to feel how she defines the life diagram from death to the life after.
