Yi Chen Ho is a Taiwanese fashion/textile designer based in New York. As a fashion designer who believes in the connection between art, fashion and psychology, Yi Chen dedicates her time developing the language that flows between design and art with a specific goal of creating fashion that not only pleases the eyes, but also the mind.

She believes that to communicate through fashion, her garments need to voice their stories through experiences rather than visualizations. Thus, materials in the design process are heavily emphasized. Tactile experiences are particularly essential in Yi Chen’s creations. They serve as prompts that play tricks to the eyes and lead curious minds closer to feel the garment.

Yi Chen Ho majored fashion design at Parsons The School of Design and specialized in both womenswear and textile. She also studied in London at Central Saint Martins for Fashion Prints. With a keen eye to colors and strong textile knowledge, she expanded her career and worked for well-respected fashion houses such as Anna Sui, Ulla Johnson, Jonathan Simkhai, etc.

Yi Chen Ho is the winner for Parsons x Luxarity/Lane Crawford Award 2019 where she has been sponsored a grant to set up her brand and an upcoming collaboration collection with the well-known Hong Kong retail store, Lane Crawford. Her most prominent work, “Rituals of Self Healing”, was worn by the well-known actress, Reema Sampat, in her upcoming film, singer KIRBY in her album promotion, legendary dancer/LGBTQ+activist Leiomy Maldonado in her photoshoot, etc. “Rituals of Self Healing” is a collection focusing on how emotions translate through creative and innovative materials that serves a purpose. This collection demonstrates Yi Chen’s design philosophy: not just to construct clothing pieces, but to create experiences that involve different senses through thoughtful, beautiful, and experimental designs.
