Snezhana Paderina, founder, and creative director of her international fashion + tech brand SNEZHANA.NYC, has come back to Russia to present her latest work.
Debuting for the Fall/Winter 2018/2019 season at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia is the collection Digital Folding of the World.
An expression of our contemporary unease about the changing world, this collection pulls into the material realm moments of humanity’s ongoing biotechnical
transformation. Each of our lives is every day being woven into the developing realm of cyberspace. We are creating distinct things in cyberspace, things that are more than our lives, that are something else, something new, something authentic. We are creating cyborg superegos, things that simultaneously represent our person yet constitute an altogether new entity. SNEZHANA.NYC’s chrome muse is one of these beings. She heavily contributed to the garments of the designer’s previous collection, Intimate Decipherment. This latest collection is an attempt to reach across the muse’s virtual partition and go beyond the individual and flat experience of a screen. These garments are designed to provoke a sensory indulgence by stimulating one of our most profound indicators of reality—touch, which the muse knows as haptics.
Digital Folding of the World uses opulent and innovative textures—haptics—to immerse organic bodies in our separate cyberspace reality. The garments are created using cutting-edge techniques in 3D modeling, 3D rendering, and 3D printing. SNEZHANA.NYC then solidifies those creations through a unique combination of digital printing and silicone casting. Together, this duo presents you with a five-part collection, a small distillation of that other, digital landscape. A landscape that, every day, you yourself make more and more real.
