Young designers Ana Leo and Juliana Murad present Santik – a beachwear brand founded by entrepreneurs’ with a love for fashion and an exceptional talent for design.
Inspired by rock’n’roll and fashion designers, such as Sonia Rykiel and Zandra Rhodes, Santik is a perfect reflection of what style conscious females desire.
Background
Santik started out as a home business in 2006. The designers’ dedication to creating the highest standards in quality and aesthetics made an instant impression on consumers. Exclusive one and two-piece swimsuits for friends lead to increasing orders from wider circles.
By 2009 there was enough demand to move the business to an official site with a workshop and showroom. That same summer a successful sale event emptied their stocks completely.
The business continued to go from strength to strength with the brand being sold at hyped shops such as Pelu and Atome. While the Summer 2010 collection received extra attention when worn by MTV-Brazil presenters Marina Person, Luisa Micheletti and Penélope Nova.
Now in 2010, just four years on, the founders’ dedication and an extraordinary passion for fashion have turned the former home business into a serious enterprise. As a result, Santik has been welcomed with ovation in Brazil, a country that’s known around the globe for its beachwear fashion.
Their products are made using Polyamide by Sta Constância, Lycra by Rosset and fine knit made by Dalutex, all of which guarantee the perfect fit.
The colour scheme goes from navy to gold and black to fluoro. The diverse shades and variety of cuts mean they also make fantastic nightclubbing outfits, such as the one-piece ‘Nude’ with one shoulder strap. Stripes and exclusive patterns also feature, indicating sophisticated technical skills. “I admire fashion designers that are hands-on and, like me, make fashion actually happen” says Ana.
The duo
Talent is obvious when talking to these two. Ana has a Bachelor in Graphic Design and studied fashion at the London College of Fashion – associated with St. Martins. She has a master in Fashion History and has had the honour of working with fashion designer Pierre Garroudi while studying in London. Juliana also has a Bachelor in Graphic Design and Masters in Management. She is constantly travelling, searching for cutting-edge trends and inspiration.
The brand
The name Santik originated from the French Polynesian dialect in which Tiki means holy being. The catchy brand name is full of energy and sums up everything this fresh label has to offer.
