Julia was born into an artistic multicultural family of musicians. Her grandmother was Ukranian and grandfather was Armenian, born and raised in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. having spent childhood summers in samarkand, she got familiar with the rich culture of cenrtal asia - the tapestries and suzani embroideries, handloomed vibrant silk hand loomed by hereditary artisans in the heart of vibrating ancient city of samarkand, one of the most important stops on the silk road, key center of silk manufacturing and trading. moreover The city itself is a pure gem – this is where Uzbek, Armenians, Tajiks, Iranians, Tatars, Europeans, Koreans, Bukharan Jews coexist peacefully, their cultures, languages and traditions collide and form a vivid cultural canvas. that's where the idea of bringing east and west together takes its toll.
