womenswear designer based in nyc. the brand translates the natural forms I was raised by by: waves, dunes, surf breaks. Through constant experimentation with juxtaposing mediums, the garments move with the same intensity, twisting and turning against the body in an endless tango of structure/collapse. I merge the familiar shapes of the sea to make garments that look as if they were floating in some otherworldly place, capturing the body in an intimate way

This collection focuses on a translation ambiguity found in the Odyssey where Homer describes the colour of the robes worn by the rhapsodes performing as "porphyra", which gets translated to purple in english. However, the word "porphyra" has a secondary meaning in Ancient Greek, which translates as "to roll without breaking" suggesting that "porphyra" describes not just a colour but also the unfenced sea that the story centres around. This nebulous concept puts forth the idea that these robes, beyond purple, contain the contours of the waves within themselves.
