“Resiliencia” is a collection that tells the story of the empowerment of women in mining and fishing in Asturias. It narrates a series of events, apparently unrelated, which in real life are closely intelinked.
It is a way to make a tribute to those women´s struggle and thus enhance the work of those women who strived to get recognition for their work and an improvement of the situation of women in fishing and mining. It speaks of suffering, effort and finally of success.
To get to represent this concept my collection is supported by other inspirations linked to this idea.
The concepts of transformation, evolution, resilience and sacrifice are also found in the life of butterflies, which served as inspiration to create the textile manipulations because the macro photos of their wings clearly show a texture that is formed by scales like the fish skin. In order to reflect this idea I digitally printed, on crepe and organza fabrics, some personally created fish scales patterns, which play with light and reflections, which then I cut with laser.
The whole collection breathes a feminine air which highlights the natural shape of the woman by using fabrics with a beautiful drape such as crepe, organza, gauze, etc .. combined with transparency games in the fabrics.
Organic shapes, with long skirts, and small manipulations.
On the other hand a contrast in the outer garments, which bring rudeness to the collection with worn leather fabrics reminding of the oxidation present in the hulls of the boats and the old tools.
The chromatic range transmits a nostalgic air for the past, with grey tones, black ochres, while colors like the silver, blue and small touches of purple emerge to add strength and contrast to the collection.
