Pearly Wong’s SS17 collection “Catch Me If You Can”; a narration of our inadequate efforts in catching up with mother nature’s endless decline. Ironic standpoint as we are on the chasing end, reflecting on behalf of her absolute self’s point of view.

Filled with dominant lines and structures, Pearly Wong’s overall aesthetic of the collection is coherent to the label’s principal style of incorporating geometric shapes in multifunctional designs. Evocative prints of aggravated waves and poignant, still waters appear throughout the collection, reminding us of the treacherous effects of our actions onto the colossal yet vulnerable living world. The colors that paint this collection remain to be the label’s staple shades of white, black and grey with melancholic undertones of steel, saxe and pale blue. The washed-out, subdued cast of colors offsets the structured forms.

Pearly Wong’s piece’s silhouette and structures accommodates to the pattern pieces of the interchangeable clothing; a fine mixture of drapes and geometric shapes with straps and pulleys throughout the collection. The collection is an account to the manifestation of our recklessness – the detrimental effects on our earth.
