My final collection was show cased at Graduate Fashion Week 2010. I designed a 6-piece collection based on extreme sports; I gave sportswear a fashion forward twist by mixing diverse fabrics in the likes chiffons, velvets, and leather. To maintain a sporting edge, I used typical sporting fabrics such as jerseys, power mesh, and neoprene. Mat and shiny Perspex, cut in big sequin shapes on the garments as well as styled accessory pieces such as hand- made metal visors, Perspex covered rug sacks, and plastic moulded harnesses keep my collection fresh and new. The key elements for the silhouettes used, are very big and dramatic bold shapes, taken from American football and sky diving, to name a few. Through my collection, I wanted to show how sportswear could be interpreted into fashionable garments. I used many accessories to accentuate typical sporting silhouettes. The link between sportswear and fashion has always been of interest to me, as I feel that there is a big divide between the two, when put together they can achieve very fashionable looks.
