The main inspiration for this collection was the complex relationship between Frida Kahlo, a Mexican painter, and Diego Rivera, a muralist, who lived at the beginning of the 20th century.
Due to the enormous resilience demonstrated through a difficult life, the research focused then on the female artist. She in fact suffered from poor health since birth, however, her condition did not stop her from painting, but inspired her art instead. Kahlo’s life story resonated with the brand because of the time we are living in and the challenges we are going through collectively due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
In this way “Xochitl” [S-oh-cheel] was born, a celebration of resilience.
Xochitl means flower and it is the Aztec name that Frida used to call herself with.
