Margarita and Cristina Ng Ng are Chinese-Dominican born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from Chinese immigrant parents. They moved to New York to pursue fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). After getting their bachelor’s degrees in 2017 and interning for over a year at Proenza Schouler in the atelier department. They had the opportunity to have their first runway show on Barcelona Fashion Weekend in 2018. After that, they decided to further continue their higher education to obtain their Master’s degree in fashion design at FIT and graduated in May 2020.

2X1 = Split Identities/Personalities Different But Same

This collection was based on our lives as (fraternal) twins and it focuses on four main aspects: our identity as twins, Nature vs Nurture, the grading system of patterns, and aging.

Being twins is beautiful, and fun, as twins we are inseparable. We understand each other, we have developed a way of communication that only we can comprehend. Having said that, we also have our similarities and differences, our personalities are similar but not the same, for instance, we both are introverted individuals but one is more outgoing and the other one is timider. Another aspect is that one is taller than the other one, and our facial features are different.

We have wanted to create a storytelling of our lives as twins, our similarities and differences, and showcase it into a conjoint collection.
