Nottingham, February 2018: Accessory Designer, Lee Mattocks, is launching a new addition to the MATTOX family of leather accessories that uses his unique interlocking leather seam system. Lee, an award winning Nottingham based accessory designer and graduate of the London College of Fashion, began using the innovative seam to construct fashion items, such as handbags and accessories, in 2016 and launched the brand MATTOX at London Fashion week. With many years of experience in product development for leather Lee has learned how to use this material in new and innovative ways while also continuing his love for exceptional historical craftsmanship. You can view lee's work at the Tassenmuseum in Amsterdam (museum of bags & purses) where his bespoke leatherwork is on show next to historical examples of Vuitton, Fendi and Dior.

Now using state of the art CNC cutting technology together with his experience with traditional and historic leather craftsmanship, Lee has perfected a way of creating stunning and unique accessories that are also ethically made. With a growing fan base online, MATTOX is attracting people from around the globe who are turned off by mass production from fast fashion factories where conditions are sometimes poor, wages are low and workers are denied access to fair and safe working environments. Mattox accessories are produced in limited editions and manufactured within the UK, and they are given a unique serial number. Due to the innovative seam design we can also manufacture each piece in many different ways allowing for the mass customisation of every limited edition collection. “I wanted to create accessories that were desirable, felt luxurious and featured a strong design element. I did not want my accessories made in factories overseas so I slept on this problem for some time and managed to remove ‘factories’ from the chain through an alternative design process. I have created a business that stands for great craftsmanship and products that are ethically made with a transparent supply chain, working alongside likeminded and responsible suppliers. I wanted my bags to be loved and owned by people who appreciate luxurious materials but who cared where and how they were made. I have been lucky to hear great things about MATTOX bags from the people who use them every day, my customers appreciate great contemporary design and want to support British manufacture and innovation”

The 2018 Saddle Bag will be introduced to the world in February 2018 and comes in 8 colours, including Bubble Gum, Azure, Lemon Burst, Navy Blue, Racing Green, Cabernet, Conker and Black. Each individual piece is handcrafted and is stamped with a unique serial number of its place in the limited edition collections.
