Step into a world of magical creatures, twisted jewels and precious armour!

Maria Nilsdotter creates wearable art with a playful touch. The jewellery is characterized by symbolic figures and unexpected twists and thought provoking contrasts. All the work is handmade out of precious metals, stones and pearls to create timeless and beautiful jewellery.

About Maria Nilsdotter

Maria Nilsdotter graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2007 with a BA in Jewellery Design. Her five earlier collections are now followed by the collection called Catch Me If You Can.

In 2009 she presented a jewellery collection in collaboration with the Swedish clothing brand Whyred and has recently made a series of silver chains for Hyde’s Spectacles.

In spring 2011 Maria Nilsdotter opened a small boutique/workshop located in Old Town, Stockholm. An eclectic and inspiring studio just off Skeppsbron. In the studio the visitors can see the jewellery being made, order custom pieces and find quirky accessories.

“In Disguise”

For this Fall Winter 2012 collection Maria has returned to her love of traditional folktales, finding special inspiration in the story of ”The Swan Suit”. The story tells of a princess who loses her swan suit, a magic cloak that allows her to transform into a swan. When her sisters fly away she is unable to join them and is left behind.
The collection draws inspiration from the sense of having a secret or alternate side to ones personality, being in disguise at times. Also the feeling of longing for a lost world or another place; at times feeling like an outsider.
The materials used are mainly silver and oxidized silver along with mother of pearls and fresh water pearls. These are combined with more unusual materials like neon dip-dyed feathers, as well as, metal covered lace tiaras and neckpieces.
