Being born and raised in Mexico City, I have always been surrounded by an “orderly chaos” that is transmitted in my work through a sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic; full of details that can sometimes border on the Baroque but remains delicate and subtle at plain sight. In my projects I am interested in creating garments that you can look at again and again and each time find new details that at first glance had escaped you.

Crafts and handwork is another very important element in my work that has been very present in my life since I was a child. I am fascinated by the freedom and creative expression of the random, and the unexpected that coincidences bring. I work a lot from intuition and collage.

The modern Prometheus

The Modern Prometheus is an 8 looks collection inspired by the monster of
Frankenstein from Mary Shelley’s novel. A nameless being created with the hope of creating the perfect man but made up of dead body parts. A creature that never asked to be born but is alive. A "human" who since his birth was rejected and suffers the loneliness of not belonging anywhere.

The monster is halfway between the human and the inhuman; depending on the characteristics that stand out, it may seem more like one thing or another. This is why my collection combines plant and human structures creating flourishing veins embroideries. The clothes’ structures are inspired by the human body structures such as bones, muscles, and asymmetries.

It is a romantic collection that tries to represent the melancholy and sensitivity of the monster with colors inspired by the vegetable world but reminiscent of the interior of the human body. I use different shades of pink, green and beige. Colors are unsaturated, fabrics are delicate and have many transparencies. Also, the monster being a “patchwork” of human beings, I wanted to create a fabric recycling something that is already “dead” and give it a second life. So I made a patchwork of tea bags taking advantage of the spontaneous and old-looking print that they get after their purpose has been fulfilled.

Like the human and monster that Mary Shelley created, my collection has many subtle details that are not seen at first glance; with them I want to represent the complexity and the multi-facets that everyone has.
