Qi Zhang is a London-based accessories and jewellery designer/artist who came from Beijing with a multi-lingual, multi-cultural background. After completing his BA degree in Jewellery Design, he worked in the industry for a few years and then undertook further education through the MA Fashion Artefact course at the London College of Fashion. Specialising in leather, the designer explores the possibilities of expression on the human body with fashion accessories and art pieces.

The brand Leather Artefact was set up as a project to explore the human body using traditional leather craftsmanship to create an idiosyncratic style that would bring together strong architectural design and high-quality leather to produce affordable luxury accessories with a touch of equestrian flair. Sculpted, innovative in design, and elegant yet understated. What emerged was more avant-garde than people have imagined.

Championing the maximal minimalist trend, the AW18-19 collection keeps producing meticulously crafted, high-end showpiece leather accessories that include all-over body harnesses, cuffs, chokers and bags. The range is expanding into men's line which will be catered to a man’s physique. Timeless, elegant, considered and sculptural. The collection is designed for the discerning customer who appreciates quality and creativity with affordable price. All styles are crafted entirely by hand in the London Atelier and are made using only the best British Vegetable Tanned leathers and solid brass fittings from Italy. The brand sources the finest exclusive materials to ensure each piece feels as incredible as it looks using traditional saddle making methods while experimenting with progressive techniques.
