Lærke Koldskov is a Copenhagen based Fashion Designer who graduated with her MA degree from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2017. She completed her BA degree from VIA Design and Business in Herning, Denmark in 2012.
Her work often revolves around sociological issues and how they manifest themselves in modern art and apparel.
In her work Lærke focuses on modern interpretations of textile expressions such as print, embroidery, fur and textile manipulation, and how they honour craft traditions that are disappearing today. Through tactile surfaces and thorough design work, Lærke believes that the end user of a garment will form a deeper attachment to said garment, which will make it an aesthetically sustainable item, cherished for many years.

The Supermarket Experiment

This collection is rooted in a fascination with the fact that 50% of all clothes in Denmark are purchased at the supermarket. I am interested in looking at how clothes at the end of the fashion food chain – the supermarket – can work as an unlikely source of inspiration. The project forms a sartorial conversation between discount and luxury, between notions of copy and original. The project aims to question the rigid patterns of fashion towards a possible state of greater creative freedom. Doing this in part by joining the ornamentation and volume of haute couture with the design language of discount clothes.
