Designer Louise Leggat who is a graduate of Ilam School of Fine Art and Massey University's School of Fashion Design describes kohl & Cochineal as an evolving story, one which does not adhere to a thematic division of seasons nor a trend based disposable culture.

Design details are handcrafted and pay homage to a Japanese ethos of discerning beauty in objects which perform even the most humble of tasks. The exchange between each component manifests in clean but complex wraps, folds and pockets. It is this combination of fine detail and sculpted form which make Kohl & Cochineal’s bags sublime packages for life's tools.
