Would be the most succinct way to describe 'KANYEKA', a women's fashion label that makes statement accessories for a truly seasonless wardrobe...Luxe, bold pieces made to complement women's clothing, rather than compete with it.

Founded in 2018 by Kanchan Gaitonde, with a burning desire to create novel, head turning pieces, that are as striking as they are wearable, KANYEKA has evolved from debuting with a line of luxury leather handbags to now creating jewellery, hair accessories & more.

Every sketch & design that makes it past the drawing board, is evaluated for distinctiveness, versatility & luxury. Then on, using only the finest of materials, from freshwater pearls, swarowski crystal & 24K gold plated brass, each piece is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans in India.

THE DESIGNER -

Kanchan was born & raised in India and has lived in Hong Kong and now Singapore where she founded her label. Although she's an apparel designer by qualification, accessories have always been her true passion. Having Singapore as HQ and manufacturing in India, gives Kanchan a unique perspective on design, the ability to marry traditional indian crafting techniques, with a refined, polished aesthetic derived from modern, urbane Singapore.

INSPIRATION -

VINI, is a collection of jewellery & hair accessories inspired by, and named after pretty floral vines that line picket fences and gardens of quaint little cottages . Just like their inspiration, these pieces are wispy & delicate, yet instantly eye-catching!...making them a beautiful finishing touch to complete the look.

MATERIALS & CRAFTSMANSHIP -

Every piece has been completely handcrafted in India by skilled artisans using freshwater pearls strung onto 24K gold plated brass wire. The making of each piece involves no less than nine processes, and incorporates between a few hundred to a thousand fine twists, made over multiple painstaking hours.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY -

Conceived & produced during the pandemic, this collection has been developed against all odds brought about by the raging covid situation, from hard & intermittent lockdowns to travel restrictions & slowed supplies. Despite the challenges, the biggest joy of creating this collection has been the employment & rehabilitation of Indian migrant artisans & craftsmen who were rendered completely jobless & displaced after the global lockdown in 2020.

SUSTAINABILITY -

The utmost care has been taken to ensure that the manufacture of these pieces incorporates sustainable practices, from using natural materials, minimal wastage during production, non-toxic finishes & (almost) plastic-free packaging.

VISUALITY . WEARABILITY . VERSATILITY -

Just like everything we design, this collection too has been made to be seen, worn and used! Every piece packs in as much visual punch, seen in an editorial spread, as it does in real life, worn on a person. Lightweight yet impactful, each piece has been created to be worn over & over again, teamed with everything from pantsuits to pullovers & cocktail dresses to beach kaftans.
