Similar to her diverse international background, Jenny Xiao approaches design with diversity in materials, ideas, and cultures. Constantly venturing into uncharted territories of objects and ideas, Jenny’s research spans across traditional textiles and technological inventions. Jenny seeks to challenge stereotypes by redefining mundane objects through her unique and unconventional approaches. Graduated from Parsons School of Design, Jenny designs gender free and age free collections. She delves into multifunctionality and incorporates unexpected details to bring a more enjoyable and playful experience for the wearer. Born and raised in China, Jenny’s work often origins from her cultural and personal background. It is presented in the consistent use of colors, forms, and patterns in her collection. Jenny enjoys challenges and surprises. Exploration of unpredictable materials has become a routine in Jenny’s creative process. Design to organize chaos is her motivation. Unlinking their traditional use and reorganizing it to new purposes help Jenny to achieve more thoughtful details for each piece of garment she creates. She hopes to inspire people to appreciate little moments in life by creating a space for her audience to pause, breathe, and immerse themselves in her work, away from the distractions of their busy lives.
