Sustainability being the emerging concept in the fashion industry, the brand Hirika Jagani focuses on producing a collection that brings an inspiration from the nomadic tribes of the India. Craftsmanship and ethical trading being the core concept of the brand, the label tries to use the most sustainable way of producing the garments. The aim of the brand is to provide sophisticated, sexy clothing to women while keeping the corporate social responsibility as the key aspect.

Dot-to-Dot Spring/Summer 2014

The summer 2014 capsule collection Dot-to-Dot is designed by Hirika Jagani focuses on recycling and up cycling, the innovations trending in the fashion industry. In collaboration with “The Salvation Army” a bag of old charity clothes were given, in order to challenge the fashion boundaries and make a world a better place where recycling and up-cycling methods are used in order to maintain the environmental issues due to the fast fashion. A deep research was undertaken, from where traditional methods of dying the fabric and using patchwork as a key element, to create a better and sustainable garment were adapted.
The concept revolves around the theme always-in fashion “Polka dots”. The main key look consist of the three garments a skirt, a top and a jacket. The fabrics used are the old clothes, which are recycled and up-cycled to create one key look. In order to promote sustainability in the fashion industry, top has been dyed with the turmeric powder, which is an eco-friendly dye. A Jacket-a bombing, colourful, polka dot print has been up-cycled from a women’s dresses, shirts and men’s shirt. The bubbly blue skirt is made from an old dress with a delicate polka dot binding at the hemline. Therefore, creating a world where recycling and up-cycling should be promoted in order to create an eco-friendly environment in the world.
