Identifying my style as a womenswear designer, my traits revolve around femininity. Soft texture, quality fabrics and attention to detail all point towards a pretty and girly style. I am a hard working individual with a desire to continuously progress and achieve higher standards. I like to challenge myself to create something new and exciting that is striking on the catwalk yet commercially viable and wearable.
I have recently graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in Fashion Design Sandwich (BA hons) with a 2:1. University studies twinned with industrial placement have given me the fundamentals in research, colour and trend analysis, design development, portfolio presentation, pattern cutting and garment manufacture, enabling me to build comprehensive ranges both for catwalk and the high street.
My collection 'Blossoming Graffiti' was selected to be shown at Graduate Fashion Week 2012 which was a huge honour and a great privilege.

Blossoming Graffiti

The inspiration for my first capsule collection 'Blossoming Graffiti' originated from a piece of work I saw by Tord Boontje. The work - a cabinet - had intricate cut out floral detailing with a splash of colour. Further research into his work led me to delicate floral garlands, inviting me to experiment in creating my own garlands using a laser cutter. This then became the basis of my work, draping the garlands over a mannequin, and using individual flowers to create ruffled layers. Creating a quirky edge to my work I incorporated graffiti line prints which I came across in a book. Using graffiti as inspiration I added colour to the prints and made a repeat pattern, also using the same colours for the laser cut flowers. The combination of delicate texture with bold colours and vibrant prints created a strong exciting look, working alongside floaty feminine silhouettes in transparent chiffons and shishy crepe de chine.
