Using diverse materials in adapting geometric figures on handbags was in the foreground of her designs and productions she offered to domestic and international interests and markets.
Gunes Dericioglu treats plain forms by dissecting and folding for reforming purposes as likely extensions of a certain design concept over a certain uniform. These extensions but provide options for individual customers to determine how to seize; for example, a handbag in harmonization with her body and figure, motion and gesture. These personal determinations relying on seize and grasp options offered in designs of Gunes Dericioglu create typical “handbag of the owner”. It is also an apparently similar design style which could be witnessed in her shoes and sandals. The materials in geometric forms are treated in such a way that; for example, a leather strip is subjected to re-forming in order to take the shape of a sandal or to constitute a cranny on the rear of the bare leg in conformity with the extended texture lines on a leather boot.
In her recently prepared “Drunk Collection”, Gunes Dericioglu is inspired by flexible and transformative states of soul. Each piece represents an integral and loyal component of the owner in hard times. These never get lost from minds and views of their owners.
Gunes Dericioglu exposes personal creations are remote to general trends and independent from moulds and forms. Her expressions are strictly feminine, bold and wise…
