The inspiration for HEART AND SOUL SS19 collection came from the late American photographer, Francesca Woodman (1958-1981) who had a preternaturally gift in capturing surreal photographs began at the age of 13. Woodman often featured either herself or some female models in her black and white photographs involved in nudity, blurry, obscured faces, objects, interior and items of furniture. The incorporation of these elements in Woodman's works created a series of haunting images that demonstrated a ghost-like angel or woman phantom of transformation who strived to conceal or vanish in the space: in between appearance and disappearance.

Woodman was the sole performer regularly emerged in her surreal photographs to reclaim her female identity and existence in the patriarchal system, in which a male-dominant surrealist movement of art history. Woodman revealed her bare body majority in the images as a bold attempt to confront and resist the eroticism and voyeuristic fixation of male gaze. She was inventing a language- surrealism photography to depict the difference of conceiving the women's bodies between a man and a woman's perception. Hence, this collection communicates the persistence devotion of a feminist to push boundaries to fight against gender disparity in society by putting oneself in a masculine position and reconstruct the judgment towards femininity.
