This collection started from me noticing my family's proclivity to collecting. On my dad's side, more than half of the people have hoarder tendencies, from the basic stamp collection to the more specific payphone cards. That got me interested into reading further into the psychological side of collecting.
I found out about the oddity of it being about inner security as well as outer applause, which was a fascinating paradox. For some, collecting is a way to create an alternative universe outside of social construct over which you have total control; it is escapism through magically potent object. For others, it is about ostentation, a way to prove one self’s worth through obvious material display. In both case it is compulsive and all-consuming since a collection is never completed, what makes it interesting is that it doesn't have a definite end. The aim is not to complete but to always add-on. I saw in that designs that would be translated to soft but loud silhouettes as well the possibility of perpetual layering and the avoidance of empty space.
