Latest Collection
Prologue is the debut project for Dukun visually narrating the type of work that is important to me. Generally, the collection explores themes such as nostalgia, slow fashion and artisanship. Pulling from my personal past growing up in the southern part of Nigeria and employing several hand techniques(macrame, embroidery, crocheting) that are contemplative and meditativE. The goal is to create a community of individuals who are ACTIVELY using clothing and related Items as a form of storytelling AND documentation.
The silhouette is inspired by the menswear dress shirt popular in southern Nigeria, referred to as "Kemeje" in my dialect (Itsekiri). The silhouette and volume is carried through the project in the shirts, trousers and outerwears.
All the fabric used for the collection are end of line cotton and cotton blends in neutral to dark tones. Other materials include, embroidery floss, carved bones, cotton yarns, beads.
