This collection was inspired by the return to and rediscovery of Los Angeles - a meditation on traveling through both the natural beauty and the contrasting city tensions and grit. Celebrating and transforming the mundane led to detailed hand embroideries reflecting desert flora, (both literally and as they fade into the review mirror driving back to the cities), and less celebrated urban motifs such as chainlink fences. Textiles such as bonded vinyl and ostrich feather detailing were inspired by the dark beauty of oil stained parking lots at night.
