The White Cloth Makes Her Invisible: Autumn/Winter 2013

The name for the collection "The White Cloth Makes Her Invisible" was inspired by a conflicted character called Rangda, who, according to Balinese legends, is believed to have veiled herself from her enemies using a white cloth. This, coupled with the idea that spirits 'inhabit' masks during dramatic re-tellings of the Ramayana (one of two ancient Indian Sanskrit epics) inspired the designer's prints and fabric choices. The print concept entails detailed patterns on lightweight materials, such as silk georgette, partially masking shadow drawings on heavier fabrics.
