The project titled Future Traditions centered around tradaitional handicraft techniques thus I examined the shapes of basket weaving. During my research I discovered the work of American artist Ruth Asawa, and I found her wire sculptures really inspiring. I intended to use an alternative fibre to create organic shapes imitating the structures of basket weaving, so I started to try out different materials such as wire and net, but eventually they turned out to be ineligible for my aspirations, therefore I had to find another solution.
