DISTORTED

In this project I examined an 18th century European woven textile fragment made with ikat technique. Ikat is a coloring method from Indonesia used to pattern textiles that employs resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric, making a dizzy effect on the final pattern. What I found interesting about this particular fragment is that unlike traditional geometric ikat, this pattern uses European motives and structures.
