Pomegranate is a very symbolic fruit and has different meanings in different cultures. It was the symbol of love and fertility in Ancient Persia and was represented especially to women on what was known as the day of love. In the modern day world, love is represented by roses, hearts and presents. Gestures such as pomegranate have been lost in time and this was the main inspiration for my design. I wanted to design a sculptural pomegranate that looked like an antiquity that has been brought back from the past.
