Apopheniac

Apopheniac

Apopheniac is a ready-to-wear collection inspired by the psychology phenomenon, apophenia, which describes the human tendency to find meaningful connections between unrelated things. Commonly seen in the form of pareidolia, the visual perception of meaningful patterns where they don’t actually exist, this collection dives into the illusion of faces where there aren’t any. Facial motifs take inspiration from the handcrafted face jugs made by enslaved African potters in the 19th century and are used to demonstrate the human desire to find meaning in everything.
