A flower in the desert

Herero women primarily live in South Africa and Namibia. Traditionally, they were pastoralists who wore leather skins adorned with beads and leather tassels. Today, Herero women wear long floor gazing skirts with vibrant mixed prints. despite conflict and genocide of the Herero people beginning in the late 19th century, they were influenced by German victorian fashion. the Herero women refashioned their western influenced garments and made them their own, capturing the Herero culture and their own individual identities. This Collection is a modern interpretation of that style.
