Building off of the Autumn/Winter ‘05 collection’s exploration of British culture, the Michael Manzo woman so too begins to explore a la Karen Blixen. Utilitarian clothes are reexamined in unorthodox fabrics, such as a silk tapestry bomber jacket, an athletic mesh and neoprene vest and a sweatshirt cut in a woven tropical weight wool. Cut and silhouette are further informed with inspiration ranging from cloth doll construction to origami. Accessories include cat and coyote skulls covered in Swarovski crystals, a bud vase brooch made of a small gazelle horn, and a faux pearl breastplate.
