Identity Through Globalization

Identity Through Globalization

Through this collection, the designer wanted to focus on her unique and confusing upbringing. As a part Polynesian and Part Chinese American growing up in a White Jewish American household, she had a lot of confusion of identity. She never truly fit into one of these cultures 100%, and didn't know if she had to. She decided to research the history and dress of each of these cultures and blend them by collaging and cutting away what she didn't relate to in her upbringing and current life. From there, they became one new mesh of cultures, taking on their own life.
