In the close relationship between fashion and consumption there lies a conflict in relation to sustainability. The rapidly changing trends and the need for status and creating identity, has resulted in a resource-intensive mass production, seeking to satisfy and not least benefit from the consumer's changing needs. Another and unwanted by-product of this production is waste. The industrial system, from which most companies work, is still based on a linear 'take-make-waste' approach.
