John Earnshaw's graduate collection ‘Northern Soul’ was initially inspired by old family photographs and imagery of northern life in his hometown of Stockport in the 1950’s and 1960’s, leading him to focus on the uniformity in women’s dress at that time. This is combined with the influence of subcultures and youth culture which is a continuous theme that runs throughout his work.
