Discovered between layers of battered photos, a letter written with these words emerged from a suitcase bearing all that remained of a man’s life. The photos protecting the sentiment show a man high on Alpine ridges pursuing a token of honour. A flower that grows only on the steepest crags that sit beyond the clouds mark this man brave and worthy of his woman’s affection. Only gallant men may present their love with the Edelweiss, the poor man’s diamond.
