The “Silent Sea” was designed as entry for the Elle Rising Star design award 2012, which I won. It is heavily inspired by the 1920’s as well as my love of the sea and fairytales about mermaids and fantasy creatures. I hand embellished chiffon and fabric with lace, custom made holographic sequins and beading to create an encrusted almost barnacle like look to some garments, whilst utilizing the diaphanous nature of chiffon combined with pleating to create the effect of fins through water and sea foam.
