The central theme of my collection is the pocket. This is the place where our most important treasures are hidden and kept safe to be found again: identity, intimacy and all that is valuable. The traditional ‘fruit-gathering pocket’ from the garments of rural women in times gone by provided the central inspiration for the theme.

The pocket symbolizes the vagina, which is the cornerstone of the female identity and is the foundational motherly symbol, representing the female receiver, gatherer, safe-keeper and lover.
