This collection ‘Neela, Kala, Sungtari’ (translated as Blue, Black, Orange) evolved from unearthing old bollywood films and India’s rich cinematic history, which is the country of my grandparents birth. I examined the interwoven relationship between India’s fashion history running parallel to the fashion of the west and found deep appreciation for the bold colour palettes used in Asian clothing, the craftsmanship in the intricate embellishment and the way the dancers move in classical Indian dance or Bollywood movies to reveal different layers of an outfit.
