Arts Decoratif

L’Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, also known as the Paris World’s Fair of 1925 was the defining moment of Art Deco. The term Art Deco came from the shortening of “Arts Décoratifs.” The World’s Fair was a place where ideas of international avant-garde in the fields of architecture and applied arts were brought together. The art of this exhibition was characterized by the traditional Art Deco style of a modern, and geometric composition. The Art Deco in France at this time was the inspiration for this collection.
