Emma Copple's graduate collection was initially inspired by the film Desperately Seeking Susan. Emma then progressed to focus on the 80s New York, including looking at the photographer Amy Arbus who captured unusual punk individuals on the streets of New York. Emma then started to look into the life of Patti Smith and Robert Maplethorpe, which channeled a laidback grunge feel. This research made Emma interested in working with oversized silhouettes.
