WILLKAS

WILLKAS

Peruvian creation myth meets a contemporary Peru – raising awareness of “the willkas of the present” (Peruvian children of low resources), the hardships they face, their embracing of traditions and understanding the beauty in how they live. Peruvian cotton (featuring the designer’s own prints) combines with knitted baby alpaca merging the latest in technology with traditional textile – such as converting traditional llicla (Peruvian weaved fabric) into a digital print or political messages digitally embroidered onto the knitwear.
