This collection was born out of a fascination with the concept of the uncanny. The uncanny is a feeling which results when something seems both familiar and unfamiliar or beautiful yet horrible. It is that haunting moment of uncertainty that you have when you are both attracted and repulsed by something yet cannot seem to tear yourself away. A series of drawings were created of creatures known as basilisks. They are hybrid creatures that roam the deep seas possessing the powers of death in their breath and gaze.
