Christiana Christoforou's work centres around the contrast between our public and private identities.

Leaving clay at the entrance of stranger’s homes in London, with a message inviting them to participate in my project by imprinting something of their identity into the material.

Living in this dense urban environment we can be confined within a small area. Do our identities merge into the city and the brands we live with? We are forced to interact and be physically close to people we do not know. However, we can deliberately distance ourselves from this interaction, detaching ourselves from others.

My pieces consist of multiple cast fragments of these collected identities. Taking these fragments, I create unique pieces, where these many identities are united. When worn these identities remain hidden to the wearer and viewer.
