Ched Studio is defined by artisanal approach to creating fashion. Inspirations drawn from the arts, history and pop culture are fused with distinct Filipino craftsmanship. The house preserves and celebrates traditional details and standards, combining textures and contemporary shapes. Playing with the tension between draped silhouettes and précised tailoring.

Under the creative direction of Christian Edward Dalogaog, Ched Studio have been featured and profiled by local and international press, L’Officiel Manila, Preview, Lifestyle Asia, Philippine Tatler, Esquire, i-D Magazine, WWD Japan, Vogue Italia and Vogue Runway, including international online editions.

Ched Studio have represented the Philippines in international fashion events. Milan Fashion Week, with Pitti Immagine Trade Show – Super Talents, Lao Fashion Week and Asian Fashion Meets Tokyo – Philippines at Rakuten Fashion Week – Tokyo.

DESIGNER PROFILE

Christian Edward Dalogaog is from Manila, Philippines. In 2009, he completed his design and tailoring courses and shortly after, he began to freelance as a consultant designer in fashion companies before starting his own collection. Since 2011, he is also a fashion educator and design mentor.

In 2016, he presented a womenswear and menswear ready-to-wear collection. In 2017, he was profiled by Vogue Talents, under Sara Maino, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia, as part of their initiative in discovering new design talents that exemplify contemporary fashion.

Manila: Reflection of the past in contemporary fashion.

Inspiration drawn from sentimentality towards the past and early memories, a personal reaction from the present dialogue in the society. Feminism, chaos, change of guards. To bridge two worlds that celebrates optimism and familiarity. For us, contemporary ideas are very important but we also find the past very romantic. The relationship between nostalgia and modernity are very relevant to us, in techniques, details, shapes.

A Strong focus on the power of the skirt, womanly shape. A movement away from the obvious masculinity. The body are draped to form, to occupy space and create volume. We manipulated our traditional callado embroidery which takes 30-40 hours to finish to create a new pattern on top medium-weight cotton gingham fabric, to contrast and blur the lines. Imagery taken from 18th century book on Filipino traditions, rendered and digitally printed on nylon taffeta from Japan with hand-crafted embroidery of tropical artwork to create texture, layers of reference and levels of ideas.
