my art company name 'Barsaati' comes from the Hindi word 'barsaat', which means the rains; monsoon.

A Barsaati can be described as a little studio on the roof of a house or a building, traditionally built to capture and enjoy the monsoon views. Urbanely, it is rented out to struggling young artists and other creatives. A sweet spot to be loud, or hide away.

At Barsaati, we care about the planet; I do not use leather, fresh wool or fur (although I do love a spot of luxurious Faux fur :) and try to ensure all materials utilised are responsibly sourced.

Fashion does not need to be cruel and unaware- and that is the strongest underlying value of all the work I do.

My name is Fiza Husain Irwin; I am indian by origin and I've had the pleasure of living across the globe, in eight cities across two continents; finally ending up with my travel-hop life between Goa, new delhi and Bombay in India as well as Doha in Qatar.
I love travelling to new places, and my art is ever inspired by my experiences in different countries; by my own crazily diverse nation and by the raw natural beauty of untouched nature.

My Jewels are made by hand, each piece unique, inspired by India, but made up of gift’s that come from every corner of our planet; I use only genuine Austrian Swarovski crystals. Set in responsibly farmed South American hemp cord, hand dyed when required. My findings, charms and beads from the United States are 22 ct. gold and silver plated, I also use freshwater pearls from India, clay beads from Greece and dazzling Czech fire glass nuggets.

The clothing I design comes from an innate need to create flamboyant, exciting, dramatic pieces that are created with a conscience. I guess I just got tired of seeing these spectacular pieces in magazines that you'd either have to break the bank to afford, or kill your conscience to wear.

I have just launched my new collection of evening clutches; and the series I am working on is inspired by (and named after), 'Nandana', the Hindu god Indra's personal paradise garden...

My work is not for the faint hearted, and it is built up of moods and memories, of stories and adventure. these are pieces to wear and live in.

to swim in, to dance in, to love in.
