Founded in London by two close friends, ASSUWA embodies the collective memory of the Mediterranean. What better narrates the story of a land and its history than the etymology of a word? The etymology of ASSUWA is a direct reflection of its collective memory.

ASSUWA was an ancient league of states in Anatolia, modern-day Turkey, centred around Troy. Ancients Greeks believed that every facet of nature harboured its own spirit, with each tree, sea, and river personified as female deities. Inspired by ASSUWA, they named the nymph of Anatolia and the Aegean Sea as 'Asia'. Today, Asia stands as one of the world's largest continents, long the cradle of humanity. This is why we hold the belief that ASSUWA embodies everything we cherish: the essence of nature, the stories lost to time, and the enduring bond between civilisations and the nature.
