Aram Lee is breaking the mold with the launch of her multi-way stylish leather handbag. With a creative focus on designing timeless and practical products, Aram Lee wanted to create a bag that provides more than one option. Starting as just a paper mock-up, she came up with the origami-inspired idea of a foldable and transformable bag that is chic, practical and can adapt to a woman’s busy schedule.
The bags are crafted from buttery soft leather and feature high quality zippers and snaps that allow the user to transform the silhouette based on her needs. The largest size easily fits a laptop, tablet or items from a quick trip to the market. The medium configuration is perfect for everyday use and the small configuration makes the perfect bag for a night on the town.
The designer, Aram Lee, developed the concept for the bag one evening in the summer 2015, on the way home from running errands. She was carrying multiple shopping bags in addition to the small cross-body bag that she wore for the day because she didn’t think she would need a bigger bag. She realized sometimes she’d leave home with a small bag, only to need more room later on, or vice versa and she began development on the Hana bag tapping into her knowledge of design.
The bag is created with an emphasis on no-waste manufacturing in an effort to challenge the industry standard wastage of leather, which ranges from 20% - 50%,,depending on the leather piece. ARAMLEE bags make use of this waste. After cutting the leather, every scrap piece from the bags are gathered and reused to create coordinating pouches that make the perfect accompaniment to the Hana. The scraps determine the patch shapes, so each pouch is unique.
